Synopsis:

This is where I would normally give a brief intro synopsis for an anime however with Serial Experiments: Lain, there isn’t one. Think of it like this, you’re given a 1000 piece puzzle of a clear blue sky and you dump all the pieces out in front of you. You’re overwhelmed at first and don’t know where to begin but then you see 5 puzzle pieces stuck together that form a small portion of the corner. With this little boost to begin with you realize that you could start the border and work your way in. That’s what Serial Experiments: Lain is, it’s a puzzle that only gives you a small hint at the story but leaves it up to the viewer to piece it together to decipher it’s meaning. Synopsis:

As the movie opens we see young Chihiro on her way to a new town, a new school, during a move and Chihiro complains the entire way. However, her father decides to take a shortcut and ends up at a dead end with nothing more than a large wall and a tunnel that is big enough to walk through. Curious, her mother and father both decide to walk through the tunnel and see whats at the other end and not wanting to be left alone, Chihiro joins them. At the end of the tunnel they discover a stone path that leads to an abandoned theme park and decide to investigate the forgotten wonder. Continue reading »

Synopsis:

Lucy, one of a race of mutated humans called a Diclonius, has just escaped from a government research facility that had been studying her bizarre race. The Diclonius are born with a rare disease that give them two cat-ear like horns and are able to control transparent telekinetic “vectors” which can be used from simple things such as moving items around to destroying anything within it’s reach. For seven years Lucy had been tested and tortured but endured everything until her time came for revenge upon her captors and life itself and eventually escapes by carving a path of destruction and with no regard for human life she makes her way to the outside world. Before she gets away however Lucy is shot at with a .50 caliber rifle that breaks a metal helmet she still had on her head and knocks her into the sea. Continue reading »

Synopsis:

When racing downhill on her bike against her friends, Rika pulls ahead but is struck by an oncoming truck and killed. When Rika wakes up this time though the world she is in is now a sinless version of her own. Keiichi never came to Hinamizawa, Rena’s parents never divorced, Satoshi never disappeared, and Satoko’s and Rika’s parent never died. Rika realizes she finally has arrived in the perfect world she’s been trying to reach for so long but each time it resulted in her own death. Synopsis:

Paranoia Agent begins with a story about a woman named Tsukiko Sagi who is under alot of pressure at work to create a new character for a plush toy. She’s had a huge success with her current one called Maromi but the higher-ups demand more. On her way home one night however she drops her Maromi-on-a-keychain figurine but when she kneels down to pick it up she looks up to see a young boy wearing golden in-line skates bearing down on her as he swings a metallic bat knocking her unconscious. With this, detectives Keiichi Ikari and Mitsuhiro Maniwa are assigned to the case to find out more about this street assailant. With no leads and no witnesses the two detectives are to the point of giving up hope and blaming the incident on Tsukiko herself considering it a cry for attention but then they receive a report that the mysterious Shonen Bat, or Bat Boy, has claimed another victim… Continue reading »

Synopsis:

When Taro Komori was young he and his sister Mizuka were kidnapped for reasons unknown to him. But, only Taro was found alive and since this tragic experience he has been having an out-of-body experience every time he sleeps being able to see every thing that is going on in his homewtown but no one can see him. However, during his out-of-body experiences Taro also has flashbacks that portray his own kidnapping with odd sybolism that he doesn’t quite understand and therefore records his nightly other worldly travels on audio cassette. However due to one kid, Masayuki Nakajima, who can’t keep to himself and tries to make friends by prying into everyone’s personal life Taro finds out that he is not the only person experiencing these out-of-body phenomenons.
